All bloggers know just how valuable a loyal reader who comes back to your blog all the time is. If you don't have a loyal readership you won't get reliable results from the efforts you put in to your blog so building a loyal and reliable readership base is something that needs to be one of your priorities. Not every blogger is able to create a sticky blog or build a reader count and that is because those bloggers don't pay attention to the basics. There are many things that you can do for a blog that aren't too hard to do but will make large differences in your end result.

A good way to inspire a onetime reader to turn into a loyal reader is to highlight the posts on your blog that have been the most popular. One of the reasons this is a good idea is that it shows your readers that you consistently offer quality content. Why would you allow this content to be buried deep in your blog?

Make it easy for visitors to find these posts by creating a link section for them. In a way, you're showing your visitors what kind of content you offer and what they can expect in the future - a good enough reason for them to keep coming back. Be sure to educate the people who read your blog about all of the different subscription options you've made available to them. Even though RSS is a very popular way to subscribe to a blog website, some people have yet to hear about it. This means that you need to tell them how RSS works and how they can use the RSS "readers" out there to subscribe to your blog for updates. The more teaching you do about RSS feeds the more likely people will be to subscribe to your blog and your updates. For example, you could simply write a post or a page that explains "what RSS is." Just be creative and you'll get many different options to try out when it comes to educating your readers.

A blog has to be interactive! This is what will make a reader stay around and have a good time while reading your blog. Quizzes, competitions and contests are just a few things that you can do to increase interactivity outside of your comments section. The higher level of interaction you encourage on your blog, the more your stick rate will raise.

All in all, you can clearly understand the basics of making your blog stickier and standing out from the competition. There are lots of things you can do to get this if you are okay with being creative. It doesn't matter what kind niche you're targeting with your blog, as long as you have a loyal reader count that's growing, you'll be able to get more out of your blog on an everyday basis. If you are ready to work on building your blog's foundation to be strong, there is no reason you shouldn't see an increase in your stick rate.
